Excellent collection of tracks drawn from Fatis Burrell's Xterminator label during the nineties that illustrates just how good the music coming out of Jamaica during that period was. On the one hand there was the staggering amount of groundbreaking dancehall pouring from the Kingston studios - as outlined by writer Marvin Sparks in his excellent Run The Riddim book - on the other were labels such as Penthouse, Harmony House and Xterminator who rejuvenated the more traditional form of reggae with records such as those contained here. Back then it was easy to feel that you were listening to the best music in the world, hearing the tracks compiled here merely reinforces that feeling. Sleeve notes by journalist John Masouri, who had close associations with the Xterminator camp and knows his stuff, this is essential stuff.
