Happy People say:
While L.A.'s dirty reggae favourites The Aggrolites have long been a household name, lesser known are their all-girl boss reggae contemporaries Tight Spot: until now! Formed in 2003, Tight Spot brought together veteran musicians from the Los Angeles traditional ska scene. Featuring members from all-girl ska band favorites The Cover-Ups (1990s) and The Twi-Lites (2000s), Tight Spot created their own sweet and heavy spin on early reggae sounds.
In their heyday, Tight Spot played Chris Murray’s Bluebeat Lounge, at the legendary Troubadour, and appeared alongside The Aggrolites at backyard parties in East L.A. Although this line up was relatively short lived, these ladies truly found their Tight Spot producing infectious sounds with locked-in rhythms, and beautiful California-esque vocal harmonies. Happy People Records are delighted to be giving this never-before released recording from 2003 it’s first official release.
