An underrated early dub set originally issued in the UK on Safari Records with a slightly different track arrangement. There are dubs to Augustus Pablo’s Guiding Star, and Delroy Wilson’s Love, both Gussie Clarke productions, two different mixes to A. Hudson’s early roots classic We’ve Got To Leave This Place, Louisa Marks’ Caught You In A Lie and Gene Rondo’s Oh Sweet Africa, but dubs to further Gussie material such as Schenectady’s Shack and Born To Love You that featured on the original are missing with a dub to an unknown Upsetter version of House Of The Rising Sun included in their place. Some mixes are alleged to have been done at King Tubby’s. UK sound system operator Lloyd Coxsone, back in 1975 when this album first appeared, was the UK’s top sound and this set was supposed to represent the kind of things he and his legendary selector Festus would have been playing at the Roaring Twenties in Carnaby Street. A great dub album, even with the changes.
