The life story of Gregory Anthony Isaacs, one of Jamaica's greatest songwriters and beloved singers. Known for his love ballads and cultural-roots songs, Isaacs captured the hearts of a global fanbase. However, his journey was marked by serious personal struggles, including a battle with drug addiction that had devastating consequences for both him and his loved ones.
Isaacs also faced several near-death experiences, including brutal beatings by members of the Jamaican Constabulary Force (JCF) and the same fate befalling his widow, June. A life-altering encounter with a Brazilian drug cartel further tested his resilience, while allegations of bigamy tarnished his reputation in his final years. Despite these obstacles, Isaacs’ extraordinary writing talent, distinctive voice, and indomitable spirit made him an icon, transcending hardships and leaving a lasting legacy.

I wanted to like this book but was disappointed.
Some interesting snippets ..but a repetative, fawning effort that only tells Gregory’s story in platitudes. And often from one women’s perspective. His drug addiction is mentioned but nowhere tells us the true runnings, his escapades with authorities and possies in London and Jamaica are never mentioned. Aill we get told is how great he was. We knew that. Padding out the book by repeating lyrics again and again is tedious. It is an insult to deprive such a great artist with no details- warts and all-of his peculiar ghetto celebrity. No mention on Don men ,politriks and how rude boy hitler was that true genius oh ghetto observation. There needs to be a true biography of Gregory, for them bold enough to say where the.bodies lie.
