A leading player in the contemporary spiritual jazz music scene, saxophonist Nat Birchall teams up with Al Breadwinner to produce this excellent set of moody, deep and rootsy instrumentals in the style of the many reggae influences listed on the back of the album sleeve; Tommy McCook, Don Drummond, Augustus Pablo, Yabby U and King Tubby among them. Birchall and Breadwinner handle most of the musical chores, with additional input from hornsmen David Fullwood, Stally and KT Lowry, plus the great Studio One stalwart Vin Gordon. The sessions were held at Breadwinner’s all analogue Bakery Studio in Manchester where the classic mid-seventies Jamaican roots sound is lovingly evoked.
