I-Roy - The Observer Book Of I-Roy (17 North Parade) LP

Track Listing / Description VP’s revive imprint 17 North Parade issue the wonderful I Roy disc from their Deep Roots Observer Style box on vinyl, complete with a fetching sleeve design from Tony McDermot, the man behind all those classic Greensleeves covers, with a reproduction of the flyer printed up for Roy’s appearance at Battersea Town Hall on his first visit to London in July 1973.  The music is, of course, excellent.  Recorded for Niney the Observer during 1976 and 1977, Roy dispenses wit and wisdom across a number of Niney’s killer rhythms of the day including Dennis Brown’s Here I Come and Wolf & Leopards, as well as the best cut to the Up Park Camp rhythm – the singer here being Junior Delgado -  Junior Byles’ Weeping, The Heptones’ We Want It and Leroy Smart’s Wicked Eat Dirt.  A must!
