Clarks In Jamaica: 2nd Edition (One Love Books) Book

Format
Track Listing / Description

Long-awaited second edition of Al Fingers’ cult classic, Clarks in Jamaica, updated with new interviews, photographs and previously unseen archive material
Clarks in Jamaica is an in-depth study into Clarks’ celebrated status in Jamaica, where for decades they have ruled as the “champion shoes”.  Published through author Al Fingers’ One Love imprint, it reveals the history of Clarks in Jamaica, from the brand’s origins in Somerset, England in 1825, through to its arrival in the West indies over one hundred years ago, the adoption of the Desert Boot as the rude boy and Rasta shoe of choice during the 1960s and the filtering of this popularity into reggae and dancehall song lyrics.
Updated with additional content, this revised second edition includes new interviews with reggae and dancehall artists such as Ninjaman, Chronixx and Jahvillani, insights into Jamaica’s favourite styles of Clarks from those involved in their creation, and an expanded chapter on Jamaican style detailing the histories of fashion staples such as the string vest, Arrow shirt, knits ganzie and beaver hat.
Beautifully presented throughout, Clarks in Jamaica is a fitting tribute to Clarks’ deep roots in Jamaican culture and, more broadly, the rich cultural exchange that has taken place between Jamaica and the UK

Heavily updated and  new book covering Jamaica's love of Clarks footwear... as Bunny Lee would say `Clarks is the ting, man. Inna Jamaica they just love Clarks, from a baby can talk and you can ask him which shoes him like, him a gwaan tell you` .. nuff said !...covering the history and featuring a host of Ja`s artistes, countrymen and women pictured in various Clarks booties throughout the years. Presented by Al Fingers.
