Mancunian Judy Green is a fresh faced young female roots singer who has made an impact on the roots scene with her three singles Down For Jah Love and Realignment for Chris Jay and David Slayen’s Dubwise label and a tune with Dub Dadda on Deep Roots. She has an expressive voice and, as Realignment shows, writes songs that largely steer clear of the clichés with which the European roots scene is often burdened. Dubwise rope in the talents of session stalwarts Hughie Isachaar, Carl Gentles, Jonah Dan and Winston ‘Sax’ Rose to flesh out Chris Jay’s drum and bass programmes, and bring in guest engineers such as Dougie Conscious and Russ Disciples to add variety to Jays heavyweight mixes. Like the recent Singer Blue album, each track is followed by its dub, and with tracks of the quality of The Mirror, Down For Jah Love, Politician, Fear The Feeling, So Long, How Many Days, Live For Life and Million Years a next version of Hughie Isachaar’s Mass Destruction 10”, Judy proves she has the talent to make a big mark in this business.
