Originally pressed in Jamaica in an extremely limited run circa 1975, this is the long lost and highly sought after Fe Me Time dub album. It did turn up twinned with the equally long lost Tommy Cowan dub set Raas Claat Dub in a hideous sleeve back in the late eighties, but this is the one to own. Produced by the often-overlooked Ivan ‘Jimmy’ Radway, a producer in the ‘real’ sense in that he oversaw each stage of the production and arrangement of his recordings. His Fe Me Time and Capricorn labels eschewed quantity for quality, bearing such timeless classics as Leroy Smart’s Mother Liza, Errol Dunkley’s Black Cinderella and its deejay and melodica cuts from Big Youth, I Roy and Augustus Pablo, Scotty Bell’s Black Am I and two absolute killers; Leroy Smart’s Happiness Is My Desire and Desmond ‘Desi Roots’ Young’s awesome original cut Warning, toasted by Big Youth as Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing. All these are present here in dubwise form, mixed by the late, great Errol ‘T’ Thompson. This is the right stuff, no gimmicks, just subtle mixing that brings out the raw crunch of the riddims and the quality of the horn arrangements. Pressure Sounds have reproduced the original sleeve and added extra tracks to the CD release to make this an essential acquisition for anyone with an interest in proper vintage Jamaican dub.
