Added 26/01/11: Culture’s 1977 anthem Two Seven’s Clash was a galvanising addition to the classic roots music that flowed like a river out of the Isle of Springs. It had it all, fiery apocalyptic lyrics, raw harmonies and earth shaking rhythm. The album of the same title was massively popular in London during the punk years alongside the first Clash album, that group of course well known for their penchant for a bit of reggae. Culture went on to make several more classic singles and albums, either with Sonia Pottinger or with Joe Gibbs and it the Gibbs recordings that are compiled here. Their three albums for Gibbs are here in their entirety housed in card facsimiles of the original covers. The fourth disc is made up of non-album singles, including their debut, Our Time, and dubs off the original 45’s.
