Bullwackies All Stars - Free For All Dub - LP (Wackies)
Originally issued in tiny quantities on Lloyd ‘Bullwackie’ Barnes’ Aries label sometime around 1974, this wonderful dub album has been a highly desired artefact amongst aficionados ever since. The rhythms originate from sessions held in Jamaica by Munchie Jackson, the mysterious owner of the Tafari label, home to Little Roy’s classic early roots titles – dubs to his classic Lee Perry produced Tribal War and the less well known Blackbird appear here – and collaborations with Lloyd Barnes, later mixed in New York at Sounds Unlimited. The title track appeared on Pressure Sounds’ Little Roy compilation Packin’ House a few years ago, it’s here in two different mixes as is a next take of the rhythm (Meditation Dub), as well as dubs to Stranger Cole’s My Application, KC White’s All For Free and The Heptones’ Meaning Of Life. Another lost dub album emerges from the mists of time; dub devotees don’t miss it again.
