Barrington Levy & Friends - At Joe Gibbs 1980-85: Teach The Youth (VP / North Parade) CD
VP’s North Parade imprint dedicated to repackaging classic reggae music of the past for the nowadays market moves on apace with this excellent collection of Barrington Levy recordings from the early eighties, many of them riding classic Mighty Two riddims. The selections first four selections are presented just as they originally emerged on discomix back in the day, complete with their deejay pieces. Do Good is a vocal to the killer Professionals version of Dennis Brown’s Studio One classic Easy Take It Easy as originally interpreted for Gibbs by Gregory Isaacs as Babylon Too Rough and has a dub attached, and there are four dubs that correspond with the four opening tracks.
